Melissa Larson
Melissa started her Real Estate career in her early 20s working in a Real Estate office and then becoming one of the first buyer agents in Virginia. Real Estate was something that came natural to her as her Mother was a Broker Owner of a Real Estate franchise from early childhood. Using the skills and leveraging mentors throughout the first 10 years of practice, Melissa became one of the top Realtors in the USA. Melissa offers a world of experience with over 30 years and thousands of clients. At the top of her resale career, Melissa sold over 130 homes in one year. A Mother of 4 boys and her first of many grandchildren, many call Melissa Momma Bear. Melissa has had several Foster Children and many other young adults who called her home a safe haven. Melissa earned her title as Momma Bear from the adoptive family she helped. However, she is known to fight for her clients and serve as a protective force. Melissa and her husband of 28 years also run a non-profit that works with Vets and Young Men to train them in the construction trades offering them a lifetime of improvement. Melissa enjoys section hiking the Appalachian Trail, solo camping, and riding her stand-up jet ski around the Public Side of Lake Anna.
Jim Larson
Jim Larson has worked in the construction industry for over 25 years. He began his career, which spanned 15 years, with Marriott, serving as a Building Manager. During this time, he received accommodations to work on elevators, heating and air systems, and boiler systems. Over the subsequent years, Jim Larson transitioned to the home improvement space, where he worked directly with customers, providing services such as basement renovations, deck construction, kitchen remodeling, and bathroom renovations. This transition was a natural progression, as Jim used his kind nature to ensure that clients were minimally impacted by the work performed and that their goals and desires were met.
The birth of "In Between The Lines," a 501C3 organization, was the result of years of coaching, where Jim helped young men understand the challenges of navigating the college admissions process, including sports, standardized test scores, camps, and payments. The program was a great success, providing opportunities for many young men who might not have otherwise attended college and helping them envision a brighter future.
However, a harsh reality emerged as many of these young men struggled to find rewarding employment. They aspired to pursue physically hands-on careers for which college had not prepared them. In response, Jim shifted his mission and established "The Empowered Workforce Association," also a 501C3 organization. This new mission brings veterans and young men together to work and learn the trades, helping them obtain building licenses or find work in the trades. Building homes has become Jim's passion, and he now collaborates with Don Speet, his wife, and their team to offer new homes of exceptional quality at affordable prices, primarily in the Lake Anna area. They focus on aligning with clients' goals and finding the best opportunities for the best value, all as part of their winning team.

Don Speet
I have been building homes for over 40 years. During this time, I have built well over 600 single family homes, 2,000 townhomes and 700 condominiums. I started in construction as a teen working for my father. After graduating from high school, I attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute. I then entered the military through Officer Candidate School in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. I served with the 101St Airborne Division, in Vietnam. Upon my return in 1972, I resumed my building career. I became the Superintendent and Project Manager on many construction projects. I was also the Vice President of Operations and part owner of a construction firm in McLean, Virginia, prior to starting my company, Holland Homes. I started Holland Homes in 1998, after acquiring several lots in the Fox Meadows subdivision in Spotsylvania County.
Holland Homes is derived from my family's heritage in Holland, Michigan where my grandparents settled after emigrating from the Netherlands. My father was a builder, as was his father before him — it is a true family tradition.
Family owned and operated, Holland Homes is proud to carry on the old-fashioned ideal that quality and value should be built into every home. Our homes are built with pride. With an emphasis on customer satisfaction, my intention is to treat every customer with respect and honesty from the initial meeting to settlement and throughout the warranty period.
